COMMUNICATE 100% WITH YOUR TEAM THROUGH YOUR TEAM WEB PAGE
WELCOME TO 2010 TEAM WEB PAGES
Each REV team has the opportunity to set up and maintain their own team web page throughout the season.  This is your opportunity to be informative and creative at the same time:  Post schedules, tournaments, stats, announcements, game-day uniform assignments, field location links, upload photos, team logos, calendars, and whatever information you want to share with your players, parents, coaches and fans!
NOTE:  We cannot assume that all REV families have immediate access to the internet. Be sure to check with your team parents and comply with their preferred method of communication — web page, handouts, phone, text, etc.
HOW DO I GET STARTED? — To start, you will need administrative access to your team's web page.  Typically the Team Manager requests access, but if you have a techy parent on your team, that person can also be given admin. access to create and maintain your page.
  • Cick HERE to obtain your login information.
  • Print the INSTRUCTION GUIDE to get started setting up your team page.
  • Have fun!
QUICK TIPS:  As a supplement to the INSTRUCTION GUIDE, here are the most frequently asked questions when creating and maintaining your team page...

ADD A ROW TO A TABLE  Click on a row.  Right click and choose "ROW - Insert Row."  The new row will appear just below the row your cursor is in. You can only add rows one at a time.

ADD A TOURNAMENT LOGO, OR IMAGE.  Follow the directions on adding images, same thing.  1. First, open the tournament's website.  Choose the tournament logo and bring it into the photo program on your computer.  2. Log into your team web page.  3. Pull down Custom Content and choose "images."  Click "add picture."  Find the image in your photo program on your computer and upload it.  4. Then go to where you want the logo to appear in your web page and click your cursor, then click on the "IMAGES" button that is between "source" and "link library" ( do not click on "insert images," or you will get a list of ALL CLUB Images, you just want your own images.) Find your uploaded logo and click, it will appear in your webpage.  5. To resize the logo, click on the logo and use the corner tools to adjust the size appropriately.

ADD AN EXTERNAL WEB LINK TO YOUR TEAM PAGE.

1.  Open the page you want to "link" (ie., Apple Valley Invitational)  2.  Copy (right click or highlight the URL name in the browser's address field including the http://www. prefix)  3.  Log into your team account  4.  Go to where you want the link to appear in your page.  You can have the link appear one or two ways:  a) exactly as the link you just copied (although this is often times very long, or b) Type a name for your link in the place where you want it to appear (ie., If you want your link to be called: Apple Valley Invitational, or AVI, or Information, etc.)  5.  Once you have named your link, ie., Apple Valley Invitational, then highlight that text.  6.  Click on the LINK LIBRARY button in the toolbar.  7.  In the text field, highlight the existing copy: "http://www." and paste your link into that field.  8.  Click okay.  9.  Your active link will appear underlined and in blue on your team page.

Similarly,
TURN A PERSON'S NAME INTO AN E-MAIL LINK:

1. Copy the person's email address from your address book.  2. Type the person's name in your web page  3. Highlight the person's name  4.  Click on the "EDIT/INSERT LINK" button (looks like a small chain link in the toolbar)  5. Click on LINK TYPE and choose EMAIL  6. Paste the person's email address into the Email address field.  You can also pre-set Message Subject and Message Body if you choose.  7. Click okay  8.  Your active email link will appear underlined and in blue on your team page.

STAY ON TOP OF IT!
Everyone wants a "pretty" web page, but the most important factor with any team page is keeping the information current, especially if you are going paperless this summer.  During peak summer season, updates to your page may be required a few times a day.  Parents and players will check the page throughout a work day, so any information you find out during the day should be posted as soon as possible especially if it pertains to something happening that same day or evening.  Keep it current.  You will lose your audience FAST if the information is not up-to-date!  However, if the team can rely on your page as a viable source of timely information, they'll be back
!

IN THIS CASE, MORE IS MORE!  When posting information about league games and tournaments, be sure to include all the information YOU would want to know as a parent:  a link to the tournament web site, game schedule, location, time to arrive, game start and end times, directions, link to a google map, uniform assignments, snack assignment (for the little ones), etc.  Basically, if it's something you have to look up, then POST IT or CREATE A LINK for the benefit of everyone else on your team.

KEEP YOUR PLAYER NAMES "PUT!"  Are you frustrated when you add content to the “Right Column Message” and it moves your player names to the bottom….but you want to keep them at the top of the right column?  Here is a way around that.  You can use the “Sponsor” section to list sponsors, but you can also use it for other messages, and if you do, that information will be displayed below the player names, keeping the player names at the top.  You can still use the “Right Column Message” page to display information above the player names, such as coach and manager names linked to their e-mail address.
